Camera Repair in LondonFor Phones That Have Stopped Taking The Shots That Matter

You notice it at the worst possible moment. A birthday, a sunset, a document you need to scan before a meeting, and the photo comes out blurred, hazy, or with a visible crack running through every frame. You tap the lens, switch between cameras, restart the phone, and nothing changes. Camera repair is one of the repairs people put off the longest, because a phone with a broken camera still makes calls and sends messages. But every day you wait is another day of missed photos you will never get back. Most camera faults are fixed in a single visit at our London Bridge Surgery, with a free inspection before anything is agreed and a fixed price that does not change at the counter.

Lets Work Out which device you’re fixing

What Is Actually Wrong With Your Camera?

A phone camera is a precision optical instrument crammed into a space smaller than your thumbnail, so there are several things that can fail independently. Here is how we tell them apart.

Cracked or shattered camera glass

The cover glass over the rear lens has cracked, usually from a drop onto a hard surface. Photos come out with flare, haze, or a visible line across the image. Dust and moisture now have a direct path to the sensor. Camera glass replacement on its own is a quick, affordable fix if the lens module underneath is undamaged.

Blurry, hazy or out-of-focus photos

Every shot is soft regardless of lighting, or the camera hunts endlessly for focus and never locks on. This usually means the optical image stabilisation (OIS) mechanism has jammed or the autofocus actuator has failed. The lens module needs replacing, and a camera lens replacement restores full sharpness.

Camera shows a black screen or will not open

You open the camera app and get a solid black frame, a frozen image, or an error message. This is usually a flex cable fault or a sensor failure rather than a software glitch. We test with known-good modules to confirm the hardware before quoting.

Front camera, Face ID or selfie faults

The selfie camera produces grainy, discoloured, or completely black images. On iPhones, a damaged front camera flex can also affect Face ID, because the TrueDepth sensor array shares the same ribbon cable. Front camera repair on an iPhone requires careful transfer of the original sensor components to preserve Face ID functionality.

Fixed While You Wait

Most phone camera repair jobs are finished in around 30 to 45 minutes at our London Bridge counter.

Transparent Pricing

The number we quote at inspection is the number you pay. Nothing appears later.

Before You Pay Anyone: Check These First

Not every camera fault needs a repair. A surprising number of phones we inspect need nothing more than a lens wipe and a settings reset. Try these before you book anything.

Clean the lens cover with a soft, lint-free cloth. Fingerprint grease and pocket dust cause the exact same haze as a scratched lens. Open Settings, find the camera app, and clear its cache. Force-close the app and reopen it. If you have a case with a raised lip around the camera cutout, remove it and test again, because some cases partially block the lens at certain zoom levels.

If none of that helps, and especially if you can see a crack in the glass, physical damage to the lens ring, or the camera has stopped working after a drop, you need a professional inspection. Walk in and we will check it properly, and if a wipe is all it needed you walk out without paying.

What The Repair Actually Involves

Modern phone cameras are modular. The rear camera system typically consists of two, three, or four individual lens modules, each with its own sensor, autofocus motor, and OIS gimbal, all connected to the logic board by a single flex cable. The front camera sits on a separate flex that often also carries the proximity sensor and, on iPhones, the entire Face ID array.

When the fault is cracked cover glass only, we remove the damaged glass from the camera bump, clean the lens module underneath, fit a precision-cut replacement and reseal it flush. When the lens module itself has failed, we open the chassis, disconnect the battery, lift out the faulty camera, fit the replacement module and run a full diagnostic: autofocus speed, OIS stabilisation, exposure metering, and colour calibration across all lenses. Every camera repair is tested with sample photos in clinic lighting before the phone goes back to you.

What It Costs

Two price bands, depending on what the inspection finds. Camera glass replacement starts at £39 when only the outer cover glass is cracked and the lens module underneath is intact. A full camera lens replacement, where the sensor module, autofocus motor, or OIS mechanism has failed, starts at £59 for rear cameras and £49 for front cameras. iPhone rear camera modules on newer Pro and Pro Max models range between £89 and £149 depending on the model. Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel cameras are priced similarly.

Every price includes parts, labour, VAT, the free inspection, and a 12-month warranty. No bolt-ons, no surprises, no drama — ever.
